Registration is now closed

Summer 2021 professional development will focus on providing faculty resources for furthering their teaching and learning goals in preparation for the academic year 2021-22.  The CTL is pleased to offer its Pivot to Online Learning and Teaching course again this summer.  The course takes place over four weeks and is offered asynchronously online.  The CTL’s PIVOT course is designed to support multiple instructional modalities.

Pivot Session Dates:

  • Session I: June 7- July 4
  • Session II: July 12 - August 8

Institutional funding sources prioritize support for the following areas of focus.

  1. Develop a new online course. These are courses that have not been offered in online formats prior to the current pandemic and have no physical face-to-face meetings.  The goal is to prepare a course for instruction during AY21-22 with the intention that an academic program/department will work to permanently offer the designated course online.

  2. Developing hyflex and bisynchronous courses.  One element of teaching in these modalities is preparing for synchronous face-to-face instruction AND for students attending class virtually via Zoom. The CTL’s PIVOT course will help faculty with instructional design and pedagogical considerations, while time will be dedicated to working with ITS as one physically practices with the classroom technology needed to accommodate students attending simultaneously in different ways.

The CTL will also provide periodic workshops and continue to develop instructional resources faculty can access on the CTL website (ctl.humboldt.edu).  CTL staff will be available throughout the summer for instructional design and academic technology support.
