Belonging @ Hills, Stairs, and Umbrellas

Humboldt as HillsStairs, and Umbrellas represents a metaphor to help orient our thinking and participation in Professional Development Day.

Hills: those daily challenges we face as we try to work toward our goals.

Stairs: tools that make our challenges more manageable, creating easier means to make it up the metaphorical hills as we travel toward our goals (just as ramps, elevators, etc.).

Umbrellas: opportunities to come together under one tent, to achieve our individual goals, prepared to weather any storm.  A shared umbrella connects us, and helps us feel a sense of belonging.

Taken together, Hills, Stairs, and Umbrellas is a collective metaphor that can help us think through our journeys as part of the Humboldt community

What are the challenges we face? What are the tools and resources that help us manage those challenges?  How can we better connect, collaborate, and build a greater sense of belonging?  How do we support our students' journeys with the hills, stairs, and umbrellas they encounter at HSU?

Join us for Professional Development Day as we share and listen to stories and ideas that explore our challenges, incourse our success, and capture our journeys of belonging at Humboldt.
