Christopher PhillipsKeynote Workshop: Civility for the Future: Embracing Difference through Authentic Dialogue
Christopher Phillips, PhD, is the co-founder and executive director of Democracy Cafe (DemoracyCafe.org), dedicated to making ours a more connected, understanding and participatory world. Its flagship Socrates Cafe and Democracy Cafe inquiry initiatives, after nearly a quarter century, continue to gain momentum across the fruited plain of the U.S., with hundreds of ongoing gatherings in communities of all sorts, and the world over, with recently established groups in places like Qatif, Riyadh, and Saihat, Saudi Arabia, Sujarat and Mumbai, India, Seoul, South Korea, Berlin, Germany, throughout Poland.  Christopher is author of works including the international bestsellers 'Socrates Cafe: A Fresh Taste of Philosophy,' 'Six Questions of Socrates: A Modern-Day Journey of Discovery through World Philosophy,' the critically acclaimed 'Constitution Cafe: Jefferson's Brew for a True Revolution,' and most recently, 'A Child at Heart: Unlocking Our Creativity, Curiosity and Reason at Every Age and Stage of Life.' He also has authored a number of philosophical children's books including  'Day of Why,' and 'The Philsoophers' Club,' originally published by Penguin Random House.  Christopher has been a Network Ethics Fellow at Harvard University, the first ever Senior Education Fellow at the Natonal Constitution Center, and Senior Research and Writing Fellow at University of Pennsylvania. Christopher travels the globe giving presentations, workshops, and convening deep Socratic inquiries. Most and best of all, he is proud papa of Cybele, 6, and Cali, 13, and hubby since 1998 of Ceci Chapa Phillips (whom he met at Socrates Cafe), who is co-founder of Democracy Cafe / Socrates Cafe.
