Making Teaching Visible

We invite your proposal for the 2nd Annual Teaching Excellence Symposium

Teaching is fundamentally an intellectual act (Border & Werner, 2012, 314). It is a reflection of our knowledge, interests, values, dispositions, and even our growth. This year’s Teaching Excellence Symposium once again showcases those efforts that reflect the intellectual work we put into our instructional craft. The symposium is an opportunity to share your stories of teaching excellence, inspiration, innovation, and impact.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS (CFP): Submit by March 30, 2020 - Notifications of acceptance will be sent April 3, 2020

Symposium Proposal Formats

Poster Presentation: Academic - Construct a traditional academic poster according to your established disciplinary practices.

Poster Presentation: Conceptual - This format is an alternative to the traditional academic poster. It highlights a key concept, question, or finding intended to spark conversation. This format can vary, however, this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RwJbhkCA58) captures one way to organize this work.

Poster Presentation: Process - This format is intended to explain a particular approach to teaching and learning that emphasises process more than results. The poster format is more illustrative than descriptive and is intended to focus conversation on a strategy for engagement.

Digital Slides - Your work will be displayed on a computer monitor running a rolling slide deck. Presenters will talk with attendees about the content of the slides, but in asynchronous ways.
